Godoy graduated as a marine biologist from the Universidad Católica del Norte, the same institution where he earned his master's degree in marine sciences. He also holds a master's degree in biological sciences and a PhD in biological sciences, with a focus on ecology, from the Universidad Católica. He currently leads the oceans strategy for The Nature Conservancy in Chile and is actively involved in marine conservation and coastal marine resource management in the Humboldt ecosystem.
